Daughters of Boxing Legends
In 1997 J’Marie Moore, the daughter of famous boxing father Archie Moore, had her first professional bout in the sport. Then in 2000, Laila Ali came onto the scene and there was much hoopla with her and her father, Muhammad Ali throughout the time she boxed. Ali was able to give some great exposure to women’s boxing while she was fighting professionally. We also had Joe Frazier’s daughter, Jacqui Frazier-Lyde, an attorney by profession who also fought for quite awhile in which Ali and she fought in an entertaining fight that was televised on Pay-Per-View. We also had George Foreman’s daughter, Freeda Foreman who had five pro fights, but did not stay in the sport for a long period of time. We also saw Roberto Duran’s daughter, Irichelle Duran fight for a short time as a pro. Lastly, the sport saw Maria Johannson, daughter of Ingemar “Ingo” Johansson, fought in two pro fights. Johannson showed some real raw talent, but took on some tough opposition in her first two fights.
