On October 6, 1977, at the Hyatt-Lake Tahoe Hotel, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Jullie Mullen, 144, of Reno, Nevada, making her pro debut won in the first round of a scheduled four-round bout where she TKO’d her opponent, Phyllis Brueske, 147 1/4.

As described by Sports Editor Steve Sneddon, he said the following:  “Mullen’s first pro fight was a brief encounter with her 30-year-old opponent, finding discretion the better part of valor.  No sooner had the 21-year part-time bartender connected with a crisp right to the head did her opponent try to turn her back.  Mullen still connected iwth a right to the head and Brueske fell heavily to the floor and waited patiently for referee Sammy Macias to finish his 10 count at 29 seconds of the first.”
