2006 Amateurs Women’s Fourth Quarter Rankings – Iowa Boxers doing well – by Adam Pollack
Iowa City’s boxers Emily and Katy Klinefelter finished the year ranked 1st and 3rd in the nation respectively in their weight divisions (119 and 125 pounds). Emily won all three national rankings tournaments this year: U.S. National Championships, National Golden Gloves, and National Police Activities League (9-0). She also won a gold medal at the Pan American Games held in Argentina, defeating boxers from Ecuador, Dominican Republic, and Canada. Emily accumulated more rankings points than any other top ranked woman at any weight division. Katy Klinefelter won gold at the Under 19 National Championships, silver at the National Golden Gloves, silver at the Brazilian Open Games, and bronze at the U.S. Championships.
