(SEPT 5) We are excited to announce that in the upcoming super fight between two Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano versus Heather “The Heat” Hardy, the two will be fighting for the WBAN Featherweight World Title Independent Belt that is added to their sanctioned belts!
This will be the second weight class that Serrano, 36-1-1 (27 KO), of Brooklyn, New York will fight for the WBAN Belt – Prediction—This will be one of the TOP fights for this year–it is a five-star matchup on Boxrec. The two will be fighting on September 13, 2019 at the Madison Square Garden in New York.
Serrano will seek to become world champion a ninth time, when she faces Heather Hardy, 22-0-0 (4KO), also from Brooklyn. The fight will feature live broadcast by the DAZN.
Serrano told WBAN, “I’m super happy and excited to be fighting for the WBAN strap once again. I fought for it at 122, and won it when I defeated Yasmin Rivas. The WBAN is a clear indicator that it’s a good fight, otherwise it wouldn’t be approved.”
“The WBAN is as meaningful to me as any of the other World Titles, they were around fighting for us and giving is the recognition we deserve—way before any of the major organizations had at the time. We depended on Sue Fox and her WBAN site to take us where no other could to (the fans.)”
“For that I am grateful and will always pay respects to them. Thank you always, Sue,” added Serrano.
In an interview, Heather “The Heat” Hardy spoke to The Ring and said, “We found out in February (2019) that, as a ‘super champion,’ Amanda could call out any champion in any weight division and she would be the mandatory next defense – and she chose me,” said Hardy. “I didn’t get this far in the boxing game to not know how it works. They’re hyping up a big fight between her and (undisputed female lightweight champion) Katie Taylor and this is the second of her three-fight deal (with Eddie Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing).”
