Anthony Joshua vs Deontay Wilder can happen by the end of this year
A matchup between Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder for the heavyweight championship of the world can happen by the end of 2018, with some sources stating that the match has already been scheduled in November or December.
The development comes in the backdrop of Anthony Joshua’s upcoming fight against Joseph Parker, scheduled to happen on 31st March.
A thrilling fixture
The Joshua vs Wilder fixture is likely to be a thrilling one, especially considering how the latter defended his WBC heavyweight belt for the seventh time, where he knocked down Luis Ortiz in the fifth round, survived his onslaught in the seventh round, and finished the match in style in the tenth, bringing a brutal end to the match against Cuba’s King Kong. “My opponent was much more dangerous than Parker will be against Joshua”, said Wilder.
It is Wilder’s tenacity and speed in conjunction with his vulnerabilities, and the fact that he’s a right hand fighter, have only increased the demand on both sides of the Atlantic for a fixture between him and Joshua. Trans-Atlantic matches of this scale bring huge sums to the table, and this particular fight is worth at least £120 million.

Amongst the various plans surrounding the much-awaited matchup is a two fight format, wherein one will be held in the US and the other would be organized in the UK. It is believed that a lot more money can be made from the sale of 20,000 high priced tickets for a fight at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, where another fight between Canelo Alvarez and Gennady Golovkin is set to happen on May 5. What if it’s a quick knockout? “So what, I’m sure the public would want to see it again.”, said Hearn, Anthony Joshua’s promoter.
Getting In On the Action
Joshua isn’t just a big-ticket items for those directly involved in the sport, though. The growing interest in the British fighter’s performance has further increased betting interest in the March madness bout, especially since it’s possible to get Joshua vs Parker free bet offers. Sports betting has been around virtually as long as competitive sports as it effectively combines a past time enjoyed by countless spectators with a way to bring in some extra cash while doing so. It also brings with it a real sense that you’re “part of the action”. Betting on the upcoming Joshua Vs Parker bout is no exception to this but with Joshua being seen as the bookie’s favourite, a strong showing then will only snowball into more fights with increasingly tantalizing betting odds.
High stakes for Joshua
Before the matchup is consolidated, however, Hearn wants the stakes to be just a little bit higher. Accordingly, if Joshua is able to prevail over Anthony Parker then the latter’s WBO championship belt will be on the line between Joshua and Wilder, then Hearn expects the former Olympic champion and the American to clash against each other later this year. In his opinion, the Joshua-Wilder is unquestionably the biggest fight in the boxing world, and one which he would love to organize.
Despite a fixture between Joshua and Wilder being the number one priority on Hearn’s list, he believes that if the fight does not go through, then Anthony Joshua should fight in America after his upcoming bout against Parker. To this end, Hearn has already set his sights on Jarrel Miller, who is ranked as a voluntary, for a fight scheduled in August in the US.
Presently, there are two options available for the British fighter, wherein he can go up against an American fighter in August and then move on to Deontay Wilder, or straightaway proceed to fight Wilder. In any scenario, Hearn has clarified that a fight against Wilder will only take place in October, November or December.
