First reported female boxing amateur team WBAN discovered dated on April 25, 1937 in the Salt Lake Tribune. The reported the following: “At the Westchester C ollegiate Center, Junior College in White Plains, New York, what is believed to be the first FEMALE BOXING TEAM in the United States that was formed by eight girls who ranged from 56 lbs to 120 lbs in weight. They are coached by a male student and they insist they want to box with boys.
