(JULY 27) Well…It is definitely heating up around WBAN with the boxing fans in regards to Laila “She Bee Stingin” Ali’s next fight this weekend on July 30th against Monica Nunez and more! Check out the latest “hot” comments! Hot comments from the Boxing Community!
COMMENT:
Know that Laila would fight Wolfe in the street if she could, but naw with dealing with boxing you have to go through promoters and weigh-ins and all of that. I personally don’t think the girl is scared to fight Wolfe, but Ali don’t have a lot of control on who she fights, she just fights. Just this girl coming up, I believe she wants to fight but not this girl, but what can she do because shes not the manager or promoter she’s just the fighter.
COMMENT:
Laila Ali needs to fight somebody good for once. Why is she fighting all these no name fighters, why don’t she step in the ring with a girl that can actually fight like Ann Wolfe. You wanna know why cause her husband knows she will get ko’d and is scared his wife will lose big time. Maybe you should fight Erin Toughill seems you ducked out of that fight too. It’s great your daddy was the best fighter in men’s boxing, but you are far cry from him. Someday hopefully u will fight somebody good. Till then you’ll just be living off your daddy’s good name only. Fight somebody who can fight love to see u get knocked on ur butt it be the highlight of boxing when it happens. Jeff Roberts- Lancaster
COMMENT:
Laila Ali is the toast of women’s boxing and she and her husband recognize this. Being the daughter of Mr. Ali creates opportunities other women boxers don’t get. Ali backs up her words with her excellent ring skills. Some people love the trash talk she hands out; many just wish Laila would class up her act. Laila is not her dad and she isn’t even close to being as entertaining as he was in his day out of the ring. The opportunities you could have may be so much more significant post-boxing when you realize it is not just how classy you think you are, but to actually have some class in the way you deal with opponents pre and post bouts!
COMMENT:
You gotta be kidding with that Ali Interview. She is so full of prunes it must be a joke. How does she put out such garbage with a straight face. It’s like watching the World Wide Federation of Wrestling interview with one of their characters. You expect it there but not in a serious sport like Pro Women’s Boxing. Man, she’s setting the sport back every time she opens her mouth. AND lately every time she fights. She looked like an amateur against Eplion. Nick
COMMENT:
Johnny, God gave you two great fighters to work with, ALI and WOLFE. What kind of promoter would let those two fine wines AGE past their primes? You sayin’ you can’t figure out how to pay 2M in purse money to those two ladies…? Come on! Its a mega fight. But that takes a mega -promoter. Do the math 15,000 seat @ net. ave. $75= 1.5M – Minimum 150,000 PPV buys @ $25 each minus On Demand’s cut and cable cut of $13 = 1.95M. Site fee in Vegas= $1M. Ancillary revenue= 350K.
TOTAL REVE AFTER PPV PARTNERS PAID OUT==== 4M to 4.8M MINUS 3 M to ALL fighters on card, MINUS .75 M in bloated expenses. You do the math…its a money maker for the right promoter. AND it will put women’s boxing on the map the way Ali – Frazier did for male boxing ( first M paydays for the fighters). But maybe there is a promoter out there with a bigger stick…hut-hmmm RPM maybe? TD
Oh man, Ali why in the world you are backing up? Ann Wolfe is the perfect person for you to fight. Like a lot of people say, “You talk to much and fight people with low rankings or people that doesn’t even have won a fight”. For Christ sake, Laila stop running away! Fight people that have won a lot of fights like Ann, no offense for you Laila but I think you don’t have the guts to fight someone like Ann. Even though you might say “I would even fight Mike Tyson” If you say so then fight Ann and then you are in business in boxing. FIGHT ANN IF YOU WANT TO BECOME A REAL MILLIONAIRE! That’s what I had to say about this. God bless everyone. Pedro
COMMENT:
I’ve seen Monica Nunez fight and although she is a tough girl, she has absolutely no skills and is no where near the level of Laila Ali. Not only that, there is a weight difference. This is a total mismatch. On a big card like this, the only person she should be fighting is ANNE WOLFE!!!
COMMENT:
Laila Shame on you: Laila your credibility is going up like a joint in front of Cheech and Chong. You insult your fathers name and you insult fans. Well I am going to speak in a language you can understand now: You keeping it real like a 3 dolla bill you running like a Hoe after a vice raid you selling yo dad’s proud name like a pimp. I guess you don’t want a real beat down with Ann Wolfe. Esteban Erik Stipnieks
COMMENT:
Step it UP Laila Ali!!! To the powers that be at Maxboxing.com I would like to make the following statement, “You have got to be kidding me. Nunez vs. Ali is anything but great for boxing.” Am I supposed to believe that Laila Ali is good enough to mention in the same breath with her father, or Holmes, or Tyson? Am I supposed to believe that she is paving some great road for women’s boxing? I don’t think so. What I do see is a very talented, poised, gorgeous woman who has the pedigree name and just happens to fight smaller or less talented boxers. Monica Nunez is less of a challenge than Nikki Eplion. Nunez is a bloated Bantamweight with no power to be heard of or seen. She will be outweighed in this fight by 10 to 15 pounds and can’t even come close to matching Laila Ali’s power. Is it a great business move? YES. Ali will showcase her skills against an opponent who can’t possibly beat her and she will get to do it in front of a nationally televised paying audience. Is it a historic move as the media wants to portray it…NO…rephrasing…HELL NO!!! It is good business though. In order for Ali to have an impact on history she has to do historic things. Things like having great names such as Frazier, Foreman and Spinks on her resume. I am not comparing those great fighters to the women’s game but Ali should at least mix it up with the best available. She won’t make history by mixing it up with Eplion and Nunez in less than two weeks. It isn’t great, it isn’t historic, and it isn’t boxing drama because neither have a chance of beating Ali. What she will do is make money and making money is good. But if money is your aim, stop selling me history when it is apparent that you aren’t fighting people close to your skill level. Is there a female boxer equipped with all the skill of Laila Ali? If there is I haven’t seen her but there is some possibly historic competition out there for her. • Ann Wolfe – Decent technique and maybe a little stronger than Ali though not as quick. • Leatitia Robinson – Smaller, but maybe a punch or two quicker though not as strong. Good technique. • Gwendolyn O’Neil – Big and strong enough to look like she is at least supposed to be in there with Ali. • Vonda Ward – Maybe a little shell shocked from that Wolfe right to face Ali. • Lucia Rijker – Has some lead in her hands but maybe a bit too light for Ali. Her age is concern also. If I were managing Laila Ali I would probably match her similarly if I could get away with it. But I don’t manage her and I can freely say that I am tired of seeing her beat up smaller boxers. If you really want history you are going to have to get out of the shadow of the greatest of all times and take a chance at making your own legacy which means you take a chance and face someone who could possible beat you. But, such is boxing…the sport that I love. Tim Walker

Comment about Ali vs Wolfe: Ok is anyone other than me getting tired of this she said she said junk? Be professional, get both sides together make the fight happen or just forget about it and go forward and fight other people. Besides when will these women realize that they probably would do better for our sport to stay in their own weight classes instead of chasing or running away from one another. Regardless of the actual scenario because let’s face it as people looking from the outside in we really don’t know the truth no matter who is saying what. It is getting to the point of becoming a circus. What I once thought would be great for boxing seems ( in my opinion ) to becoming a black eye in this sport. I admire them both for what they have accomplished and I really don’t want Ann back in my weight class ( no offense Ann )but I think that they should fight in theirr prospective weight classes and be proud of what they do in that division. If one wants to keep running or avoiding then let it be already!! Bonnie

Comment about Ali vs Wolfe: If that fight would come off it would put womans boxing on an equal footing with the men. All the women would make much more money. And if it is a great fight people would pay to see an all women’s evening of boxing at really big venues.

Comment about Ali vs Wolfe: Both of the ladies are great, but when it comes to Laila people still fail to give her the props she deserve. Laila trains hard, study hard, and has good work ethics. Ann good but I think a lot people are going to get disappointed when this fight happens because it just might be like most of the other fights Laila has had, where they have this big bad female that’s supposed to beat Laila down, but instead that end up down for the count. Agree let’s go ahead and make this happen because I’m ready for to see Laila make some of these folks feel like some dummies when she drop another fighter on the canvas. CP
COMMENT:
You can’t put the blame on Laila. She can only fight who they say she can fight. I don’t blame the girl is scared or running from Wolfe. I’m sure she wants to fight just has bad as Wolfe does, but everybody has a role and Laila’s is to box and that’s it!
COMMENT:
I am a big fan of Ali, but I am starting to believe that she is scared to fight Ann. Laila, why don’t you just fight this girl if you are not afraid? I think it will be a good fight, but Ali will win.

Once again…Let the bamboozling begin. Eplion was marketed as a difficult opponent for Ali. Haa!!! And just where did that assertion that Eplion was good enough to contend with Ali come from?
As a former football player and current friend of ann wolfe, i can tell you that they come no better than this woman. she has all of the reasons not to be the gentle giant that she is. not too many people would have chosen to be a survivor and not a victim due to what life deals them. i have tried over and over to find a reason why the fight between these two is so difficult to make happen. they are in a sport that most people don’t want them participating in. they have the opportunity to show people why they should be fighting and that they are just as good as the next opponent and yet the tactics are fueling the reasons why people dont want women fighting. the bickering, the name calling, the i want more money than you, the i’m not like my daddy but if you want to treat me like my daddy and give me a hall pass because of my daddy’s name, i’m gonna take all that you give me but i am not gonna fight that woman that hits like a man, that has guns the size of a 457. magnum, that could possibly make me an appt. for future plastic surgery, that has combos quicker than a clicker can count, that has a shy, sensitive, emotional, mothering and genuine caring side that has the capability of beating me in the ring before i step in to it kind of game. whats the hold up ali. if you could possibly beat ann, then all of the riches will come to you after it is over. ann, austin, tx, me and the rest of the fighting world is waiting. ann will come out of this with out a mark on her whether you two fight or not because she is standing in front of you waiting for the bell to ring, its up to you to get off of the freaking stool, push away from your corner and step into the center of the ring. soho
