More on Cora Webber:  Additional info on Webber

Cora Webber defeated 2016 IWBHF Inductee of Lady Tyger Trimiar May 15, 1981 in a six round bout.  She also re-entered the sport and defeated Belinda Laracuente in 1997.  BoxRec is not accurate with the pioneer female boxers.  She fought for two 10-round world titles bouts, in 1998 and 1999, losing by a close split decision in both fights against  Bonnie Canino, and Zulfia Kutdyusova,

Cora Webber, the twin sister of female boxer Dora Webber,  were the only set of twins to enter the sport of professional boxing.  Cora Webber, the eldest of the twins began boxing in 1979, while still in her teens.  When Cora and Dora had trained in boxing in the earlier years where there were no female sparring partners to box against, she was able to spar with one-time World Welterweight Champion Carlos Palomino, Hector Gomez and other noted fighters.

On February 11, 1979, Cora Webber, 130, made her pro debut against Lilly “Squeaky” Bayardo, 127, in a four round bout in Los Angeles, California.  The two fought to a four-round draw.  Five months later, on July 13, 1979, Webber won her first pro fight when she won by a six-round unanimous decision over Carlotta Lee.  Thanks to Shirley “Zebra Girl” Tucker, female boxers could now fight over four rounds in the state of California, after Tucker took the commission to task on this issue.  On December 8, 1979, Cora defeated Toni Lear Rodriguez in a four rounder by decision.

Some other highlights of Cora’s career she KO’d Lavonne Ludian in 1980;  TKO’d Sharon Tiller in the first round.  Also, WBAN has some past footage of Cora Webber fighting a 15-round bout against Laura Holt—what a fight! The fight was non-stop and very impressive.

In 1984, she was World ranked #1 in the Lightweight Division, and she Cora fought for 20 years off and on from 1979 until 1999.

In one of the first 15 round bouts between female boxers, in 1986 (we have the video), Cora Webber fought Laurie Holt in a 15-round (two minutes per round). They fought to a decision, and Holt won the closely scored bout.
