By Sue TL Fox – July 23, 2004
(JULY 23) Elecia Battle, the woman who got hammered by the law for falsely claiming she won the winning Mega Millions lottery ticket, will be trying her hand at boxing on September 24, 2004, at the Cleveland Convention Center, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Battle, who is fighting under the name of “Mega Battle Bad Girl” will pro debut against an opponent not yet announced. Miss “Mega” is also making challenges to Laila She Bee Stingin’ Ali—–even though she has yet to step in the ring professionally as a boxer.
Mega Battle Bad Girl, may be suffering from a “Mega imagination.” Mega DID imagine that she was the lottery winner, when she filed a false police report for 162 Million bucks….
Battle cried tearfully….as reported by wykc.com on January 6, 2004: “People are walking through the snow and braving freezing temperatures in South Euclid, looking for what a woman claims is her lost winning ticket in last week’s $162 million Mega Millions jackpot. Forty-year-old Elecia Battle of Cleveland told police she dropped her purse as she left the Quick Shop Food Mart last week after buying the ticket for the largest jackpot in state history. She said the contents of her purse — including the lottery ticket — spilled out. She thought she picked up everything but realized after the December 30th drawing that the ticket was missing. Police say Battle was in tears when she came to the station Friday to file the report and didn’t hesitate when asked to write down the winning numbers. A police lieutenant says they don’t believe she’s lying, but there’s no real way of knowing other than her word. They say information she knew about purchase time and how the numbers were picked make her story credible. Battle cried as she told a reporter how badly she feels about what happened. She says she’s praying that someone finds the ticket, brings it forward and gets rewarded. She’s planning a news conference for Tuesday. “
The Lottery Post reported on April 6, 2004: “A woman who claimed that she bought and lost a $162 million lottery ticket was found guilty Tuesday of filing a false police report. She was fined $1,000 and ordered to perform 50 hours of community service. Elecia Battle, 40, of Cleveland, reached an agreement with prosecutors that called her to plead no contest to the misdemeanor charge with the understanding that she would be found guilty. She could have gotten six months in jail. Shortly after a Dec. 30 (2003) lottery drawing, Battle filed a police report saying she had bought the winning ticket but lost it. A few days later, another woman produced the winning ticket and claimed the jackpot. Battle sued to block payment but later dropped her lawsuit and tearfully apologized, all but admitting she made up her hard-luck story.”
The city that prosecuted this case, spent thousands on overtime for police investigating, and related issues to this case. Police Report.
BUT…this was not the first time, that Battle filed a civil action as she did trying to block the REAL winner of the Mega lottery ticket. According to the Smoking gun
website, they said the following: “In addition to her criminal court actions, Battle also has some familiarity with the civil side of the legal system. She was the plaintiff in two negligence lawsuits, one of which involved allegations that her daughter ingested a tainted milk shake at a Cleveland area McDonald’s. The other lawsuit centered on an injury claim against the local gas company. “
Battle said that she wants to get her reputation back. Battle also said that she is challenging Ali, daughter of the champion Muhammad to a fight. ”She has that name from her daddy and I have the name from the lottery,” said Battle.
