In February of 1977, about a week before there was going to be a boxing card take place at the Sahara Tahoe Hotel, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada, Sue TL Fox was contacted by boxing manager Dee Knuckles,  who managed her, and also managed Gwen Gemini of New York, who was living in Los Angeles.

Fox said, “I was called about a week before the fight card on short notice, and  asked by Dee Knuckles,  if I would be willing to do a four-round exhibition with Gwen Gemini, who was much more experienced than me.  I told Knuckles that if it was ONLY an exhibition that I would be willing to spar with her for four rounds in this particular fight, but that I was by no means ready to fight the likes of Gemini who was a great fighter, and who I had already seen Gemini in person defeat Teresa Kibby fairly easily in Portland, Oregon.  I had a great respect for Gemini and I knew that she was one of the best in the sport.   So agreeing to only doing a four-round exhibition, to gain more experience in the sport since I did not have the luxury of any amateur experience in boxing, I would do it for the experience only.”

A SECOND EXHIBITION that Gwen Gemini and Sue TL Fox did in July of 1977  On NBC’s “Tomorrow Show” with Tom Synder

“When Gemini, and I arrived in Lake Tahoe, she and I hung out the entire time, having a great time getting to know each other.  In the casino we bumped into the promoter of the card, and the promoter said to Gemini…now you take it easy on her (myself), because he knew I was not experienced enough to fight her, and that it was just an exhibition.”

When we stepped in the ring that night—-we simply sparred four rounds.  In the Nevada State Journal, dated February 18, 1977, Sports editor Steve Sneddon wrote the following. “In a four-round boxing prelim, Gwen Gemini, 146, Los Angeles, outpointed Sue Fox, 148, San Pedro, California.  The win raised Gemini’s pro record to 12-2-2.”

To set the record straight —this was not a sanctioned bout.   WBAN confirmed this with the fact that the Nevada Boxing Athletic Commission has no such fight documented as a fight that they had a record of, and FIGHTFAX the OFFICIAL BOXING RECORD for the WORLD OF BOXING does not have this documented as a sanctioned bout.
