In the Sandusky Register Star, November 11, 1955, Page 15, they reported that there was a female boxing bout set for the next Saturday at the Clyde Armory. They reported the following:
“Clydes’s Armory Saturday night will be the scene of a most unusual athletic attraction…in fact, it may be the first time anywhere….The possible “first” pits female lovelies Donna Marie Dieckman and Carole Kaye against each other in a regulation boxing match, 10 rounds or less. The match is creating a lot of talk and should attract a large turnout. Two other bouts are on the card, with the popular and capable Baron Von Schmidt going against the villainous Tony DeMore; and Jumpin’ Rocco against Speedy Spina. The door open at 8:30. “
