“La Bronca” Arrazola, 18-9-2 (13), captured the WBF world title in her latest outing, winning a wide unanimous decision over another Mexican, Guadalupe Martinez, this past August. After five failed previous attempts at world honors, she finally reached her goal and she is now determined to make the most of it.
Having prepared diligently with trainer and husband Juan Carlos Contreras in the city of Tomoaya in the Mexican mountains, she is not underestimating Del Refugio Jimenez Cruz, 10-6 (0), whom she beat on points in 2011, and plans to follow up on her title-winning performance with another dominating performance.
“I come from great preparations, I feel strong and I believe I can score a knockout this time”, said Arrazola. “She proved in our last fight that she is a very tough opponent, but this time things will be different and she will be facing a world champion who comes ready to defend her title by all means.”
For 28-year-old Southpaw Maria Del Refugio Jimenez Cruz, this will be her third shot at a world championship. She is moving back up in weight, having lost 2012 and 2013 championship fights at Atomweight to Mari Ando and Momo Koseki in Japan.
In September she returned with a victory over Mayte Rivas in her hometown Hidalgo, and she will be inspired by Arrazola and the fact that just because you fail once or twice, or five times in the case of Arrazola, it is important to never give up on your dreams.
The Ana Arrazola vs. Maria Del Refugio Jimenez Cruz WBF World title fight is the main event of a show promoted by Hector Garcia’s Best Talent Promotions, and will be televised live in Mexico by TVC Deportes.
