Photograph:  WBAN has the original in our historical collection:   On September 3, 1974, in a boxing ring that was staged outside and which collected many curious boxing fans to see Lady Tyger Trimiar, 21 years old, and seeking to be a female boxer in the sport, spars a male boxer to demonstrate her abilities.

Trimiar was training in Gleason’s Gym, and aspired to be a professional boxer.

The bout between Trimiar and the male boxer was an exhibition.  By mutual agreement, the male would not do body shots.  It was reported on this AP Photo that a promoter that promoted at the Madison Square Garden put the exhibition show together.
