Tomato Cans are for recycling…not boxing! By Sue TL Fox
(Sept 26, 2002) That is right folks…Tomato Cans are NOT for boxing…and yet the sport continues to furnish a fresh supply of tomato cans for World Champions, Top World contenders, and boxers who have a lot more experience than their defenseless opponents.
And who does it hurt?—- EVERYONE! Every time a top woman boxer goes into the ring with a big ripe tomato, they do it in front of an arena full of witnesses. Those witnesses leave that arena after seeing in “living color” an unbalanced match; a mismatch; a padded-record fight, what ever you want to label it as…with an opinion that women’s boxing is inept, not worthy of being of legitimate value, and/or skill less. And what do these “arena full of boxing fans” say to others when talking about women’s boxing—-you got it….. they TRASH it.
WBAN™ is not even going to begin to start naming names as to who is doing this in the sport, and TO THE SPORT—they KNOW more than anyone who they are. They are the “same ones” that will put out great press releases when they think that they can benefit in some way with the publicity… they are also the same ones who will be “mum” when they think they are pulling a number over on boxing fans and the media when they have put their fighter in with an inferior opponent.
BUT you know what folks, they are NOT fooling anyone—-AND at the same time, they lose their credibility in the sport, And they hurt all the hard-working women boxers, trainers, managers, promoters, and matchmakers who ARE trying to legitimize the sport.
