Women Boxers now included in the 2018 Texas State Golden Gloves Tournament Source/News Media
(JAN 27) In the latest news on the net, with an upcoming amateur boxing event that will take place, news sources report that this year will be the first to include female boxers in the Texas State Golden Gloves Tournament. The event will take place from February 28 to March 3, 2018. The venue is set to take place at the John Justin Arena on the Will Rogers Complex in Fort Worth, Texas, USA. As reported, state champions will also be able to compete in the national tournament, which is set for May 14-19 in Omaha, Nebraska.
The female boxers will be able to compete in the “open” division, ages 18-40. According to news sources, it has been reported the following: “The change, which applies to all states, was unanimously approved at a meeting of the Golden Gloves of America Franchise Delegate Assembly in Lafayette, La. It was done in cooperation with the United States Amateur Boxing, Inc., the national governing body for amateur boxing in the U.S.”
As reported, in previous years in Texas, women could compete in the regional tournament, but couldn’t advance to state or nationals.

Texas Regionals – February 20-24, 2018
