In the time frame that Jeanne La Mar was in the sport of boxing, she continued to have problems finding female opponents, so at times, she would also do some matches with males in the ring. In this short description of La Mar fighting a male, in the Bee, dated on September 25, 1922, they reported the following:
“Jeanne Lamar, France’s champion boxer, stopped her male opponent in a three-round bout recently. *Lemar challenged Jack Dempsey but he turned her down.”

Wednesday, February 21, 1923
In New York it was reported on February 21, 1923, that Benny Leonard, champion lightweight pugilist, would be crossing gloves at the Winter Garden with La Mar. They wrote that La Mar was going for the knockout. Leonard was quoted as stating: “I’ve always been afraid of this La Mar woman. They say that she packs a wicked right.”
