(JAN 18) WBAN and the International Women’s Boxing Hall of Fame (IWBHF) are happy to announce that we have several board members attending the WBC Women’s World Boxing Convention that is being held from January 27th to January 30th in Tijuana, Mexico.    The IWBHF is honored to be invited by the WBC and will be announcing its IWBHF 2016 Nominees at the Convention with details on the tentative venue and date of the third year Induction Ceremony. Also, WBAN and the IWBHF have some special awards we will be giving at this event. WBAN has confirmed that our 2015 Fighter of the Year, Jessica Chavez will be attending.

I am excited to attend another history-making event that the WBC is putting together on their second Women’s Boxing Convention. This, I am sure, will be nothing short of spectacular as was the first event they put on in Mexico in 2014. WBAN and the IWBHF genuinely appreciates the dedication that WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and WBC Co-Chair Jill Diamond and all WBC personnel have demonstrated in their support for women’s boxing.

IWBHF Executive Eddie Montalvo said, “We are just about a week away from The 2nd Annual WBC Female World Convention and I am excited to be attending. As Sue mentioned, I too, appreciate the unconditional dedication Mauricio, Jill, WBC Executive Secretary Victor Silva and WBC Chairman Malte Müller-Michaelis, and the entire WBC family have demonstrated. More so, to the late Don José Sulaíman (RIP) who wholeheartedly believed in equality for women’s boxing. I am also excited to be announcing our 2016 IWBHF Nominees at the Convention and awarding our 2015 Female Fighter of the year Jessica Chavez.”

In addition, two very successful female boxers, Jackie Nava and Anna Maria Torres will be honored for their wonderful careers at the WBC Female Convention.

On Saturday, January 30th during the WBC Female World Convention, there is also an excellent line up of women boxers that will feature IFBA World champion Eileen “The Hawaiian Mongoose” Olszewski (10-5-3) who will be fighting WBC Female Silver Flyweight Champion Raja Amasheh (18-0-1) for her WBC silver flyweight title, also on the card is Sandra Robles “LA PERLA NEGRA DE TIJUANA” (the Black Pearl of Tijuana) (11-2-0) vs Luz Rodriguez (5-5-1) and Yazmín “Rusita” Rivas (34-8, 10 Ko’s) who will defend her WBC Female World Bantamweight Crown against Catherine Phiri (10-1, 5 Ko’s). WBAN will provide an update on the other fights on this card as soon as we receive information. Bouts will be held at the Centro De Convenciónes in Rosarito, Baja California Norte, Mexico, hosted by ZANFER Promotions.

Eileen Olszewski said, “I am very grateful that I will be fighting again on January 30th at The WBC Female Boxing convention for the WBC Female Silver Flyweight Championship. It will be an honor to fight in front of all the great WBC champions and the people of Mexico who are great boxing fans.”

For those wanting to attend and can, The WBC Female World Convention will be held at the Grand Hotel Tijuana (Blvd. Agua Caliente, #4558 Col. Aviación, C.P. 22014 Tijuana, B.C., México).
