Quite a Matchup: Borislava Goranova with 65 pro fights, gets in ring with Pro Debuter by Sue TL Fox
(JAN 29) On Saturday night (Jan. 27) at the Sofia Hall, in Sofia, Bulgaria, Borislava Goranova, 152½, now 11-52-3 (0KO), of Sofia, took on a pro debuter, Liliya Simova, 150¼, of Bulgaria, with Goranova winning by a four-round unanimous decision. Final judges scores were 37-40, 36-40, and 36-40.
Now one might be inquisitive as to how someone with 65 pro fights under their belt, even with the many losses, a true veteran of the sport fighting since 2000, would be matched up with a female boxer that has never had one fight as a pro. Apparently, this was allowed in Sofia, Bulgaria, according to Boxrec that reported that Goranova, not only was the promoter of the event, but the matchmaker…does conflict of interest ring a bell, excusing the pun?
In addition to Goranova fighting 65 pro bouts since the year 2000 she has fought for world titles, and one International title, going 10 rounds with other opponents…SO .how does one get matched up with a pro debuter after 64 plus fights? ONLY the boxing folks in Bulgaria can answer that one.
